I have been super busy as per usual, shoots, university.. I haven't been able to sit down! I am currently in the process of editing some client shoots, and starting my new module at university 'Image As Fantasy' - I have so many ideas, so keep your eyes peeled!

Recently I've been featured on a couple of book covers by some well known authors.

Headline Publishing licensed one of my photographs for the new Raffaella Barker book Poppyland. It is released in June this year and will be available in all major book stores (it is available for pre-order on amazon now).
The other book is Lynda La Plante's book 'Die Blutrote Dahlie' which is to be released in Germany. Both of which I am very proud of! (pictures below)



I am also featured in the latest issue of Bak Magazine which can be downloaded via the website.

HELP NEEDED.
The tv company that stole my image seems ot have been removed. I never heard anything from the company, shame because obviously they seem like quite a large company and an aplogy would have been nice. It seems too many people get away with stealing images, and just remove them when they get caught. Why is it so hard to do the right thing and just pay the license fee first and sign documents? You'd think a popular TV company would have this sort of thing sorted by now..

just as i thought things were sorted, someone told me THIS - [link] site were using my work, you'll see it on the magazine (the girl fighter)... obviously no permission granted, just snatched and placed it because it 'fits' the design. I can't get over how rude people are with this sort of thing. It makes me wonder how many unknown artists get ripped off on a daily basis and don't realise!!

If I had my way the copyright law would be changed.

Wow, it seems so long since I last updated my journal.
Apart from having the world's worst cold and my family being struck down with some virus I have created and completed quite a lot since then with work & life.
My computer virus simply went away by clicking off system restore - let's hope it stays away! Thank you for your suggestions on how to get rid of it for good, I had so many messages so thanks to all of you..
I also have a new addition to the family, a six month old kitten! (see photos on my blog).
I'm currently off university for three weeks, so I finally have chance to catch up on modules, my business and sorting out my online profiles and portfolios.
I've had two client shoots this month, both were very different but I enjoyed the experience of both. I have uploaded a few of the first photoshoot with Nhuc to my Flickr page.

I have a brand new website design thanks to the lovely *jagscupid who spent a very long time getting it to how I wanted. He is currently designing websites for very reasonable prices, so contact him if you're interested.

I also have some new resources planned, some new actions are on there way with offers, maybe a competition (still in planning) textures and hopefully some free resources will be uploaded onto my stock in a few weeks time - it's been a while since I updated there and I feel I owe some of you with something new! I'm also planning to do some more articles, I am out of ideas of what I could write an article on but I'd like to offer some advice - if you have an idea of what I could write about, let me know by note or email (ljcoton@googlemail.com)

Virus Problem

Ahh it seems like one problem after another!

I am not sure what to do, I just did a virus scan on my computer and apparently I have a trojan horse somewhere in my 'restore' files (screenshot below), I've looked online at this particular trojan and a lot of people have a similar problem and find themselves in a hard situation - a lot of people have to completely reinstall Windows XP again. I really want to avoid doing this, I have a lot of programs on here I don't have on disc & it would mean me backing everything on the PC (a lot) and placing it all back which is very time consuming when I've got a busy week ahead.

Ughhhh.. sorry but I feel this needed to be said! What is with these 'thinspo' videos on youtube? They've been taking a lot of people's work, models, artists and sticking them on videos along to sad violin-like music and saying how bad anorexia is. (And WTF hardly any of the people in them are anorexic?? They've been taking some of my self-portraits, in fact a lot of close ups too and when I try telling them I get people saying "Then why are you watching thinspo videos then if you're not anorexic" (?) Ummm because people link me after seeing my work online perhaps?!
Seriously, if you take self-portraits and you're a girl around the age of 16-22 you'll probably find your images there too. (for example -

There's enough anorexia in the world as it is, we don't need to see sad videos of snapshots of thin girls, especially when they aren't even anorexic.. and when are people going to learn to stop taking pictures of people without their permission??




<sub>Thank you to ALL of you that got back to me about my external hard drive problem. I read through nearly all of your replies and come to the conclusion that it wasn't going to be sorted without actually going to a specialist. When I phoned them they gave me a qoute starting from £340, which is far more than I can afford right now.
I've swapped it for a new one which I will now use to keep less important files on.
I actually backed up a few more files than I thought, so all I ended up losing mainly was my music, Black Rain (which Ant said we'd record again anyway) and a few high res files from November & December.
If one thing, it definately taught me a lesson that I should back up my files more often!

Now I have a problem with my computer shutting down almost every half an hour, it restards and pops up with an error message saying "System Has Recovered From A Serious Error". If it's not one problem, it's another!!

..aannnd I should have my website up and ready very soon! Thanks to *jagscupid.
